Jane Beecher
Neurological Physiotherapist MSc, BSc (Hons) | APAM
As an exercise and sports enthusiast, and with an interest in working in healthcare, the career choice for Jane to become a physiotherapist was an obvious one. What cemented her decision was the day she spent shadowing a physiotherapist in the community — she was in awe of the impact made on the patient’s life.
Jane has extensive experience as a neurological physiotherapist, having worked in an acute hospital environment within many different neuro specialties including spinal cord injuries, stroke, acute neurology and neurological rehabilitation. She also spent two years at the Queen Elizabeth University Spinal Injuries Unit in Scotland where she contributed to a research group investigating the prevalence of shoulder pain in acute spinal cord injuries.
Jane’s clinical practice is consistently centered towards achieving her clients’ goals using a pragmatic, creative and problem-solving approach. She’s passionate about motivating and encouraging clients back into their normal activities, gaining independence and community integration.
Jane’s most recent endeavor has been to embark on a PhD in Lower Limb Stroke Research through The University of Melbourne. Jane is excited about contributing to the world of clinical research, and using her findings to achieve great outcomes for her clients.
